Officer Election Guide: Positions
Officer Titles and Duties:
The President is in charge of administrative duties and presides over all meetings. The President should be outgoing, skilled in management, and able to handle conflict resolution. The President shall uphold the values of Phi Alpha Delta, ensure that all officers and chairs are fulfilling their duties, and maintain the welfare of the Chapter. The President should plan to spend at least 5+ hours on Phi Alpha Delta duties per week.
The Vice President shall perform the duties of the President in the event of any absence of the President. They are in charge of public relations and must be willing to connect members with each other and encourage social networking. The Vice President should plan to spend at 4-5 hours on Phi Alpha Delta duties per week.
Duties include keeping track of member attendance, applications and dues in addition to writing member meeting minutes, board member meeting minutes, and communication with all members via email. Secretary should plan to spend at 3+ hours on Phi Alpha Delta duties per week.
The treasurer has the duty to collect and make sure all local and national chapter dues are forwarded and deposited into the PAD SOFO account. They have the duty to certify prior to initiation that all financial obligations have been paid by the initiates. It is crucial for the treasurer to be transparent with all funds. The treasurer must pay out money on itemized vouchers and keep a complete chronological record of all moneys collected and distributed by the chapter. Treasurer should plan to spend at 3+ hours on Phi Alpha Delta duties per week.
Is responsible for organizing two or more philanthropy events during the semester. Reaching out to the community is an important part of the Phi Alpha Delta fraternity and the Service Chair must have a passion for social justice within the community. Service Chair should plan to spend at 3+ hours on Phi Alpha Delta duties per week.
The fundraising chair person is charged with soliciting and gathering contributions for the chapter. They must be a responsible leader and delegate to the community. The chair person will need to develop different fundraisers and follow them through to fruition. They must be a responsible leader and delegate to the community. Fundraising Chair should plan to spend at 3+ hours on Phi Alpha Delta duties per week.
Social Chair and Social Media Chair:
These 2 positions will be filled by two members who must work together to accomplish the tasks listed below.
Must plan, organize and advertise for all social events. This includes retreat, formal, induction, movie nights and other social events throughout the semester. Must work with the members of the fraternity to put on events that intrigue members and have high attendance rates. This board member is in charge of all things technology. Must post weekly updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and pass information on to the membership. Must work with President and Vice President to help with presentations for weekly meetings. Social Media chair must be constantly checking the calendar for upcoming events in order to remind membership and boost attendance. Social Media Chair should plan to spend at 2+ hours on Phi Alpha Delta duties per week.
Professional Development Chair:
This chair is responsible for helping members expand their professional career and education through the organization of career enhancing events. Professional Development Chair must organize and plan at least two events per semester such as resume building workshops, mock interviews or leadership skills training. This board member will work very closely with the President and Vice President to make sure other members are growing and learning professional attributes. Another important duty this officer has is they must connect Phi Alpha Delta with other pre-professional fraternities on campus. Professional Development Chair should plan to spend at 2+ hours on Phi Alpha Delta duties per week.
